Under the stars after hurricane michael
We all stood outside and looked at the sky after Hurricane Michael. It’s a conversation I’ve had hundreds of times. The Category Five hurricane destroyed the power grid in just four hours on Oct.10, 2018. The unexpected result was the complete elimination of nighttime light pollution of any kind.
I made this silver lining into a special project after Hurricane Michael. Many areas like Mexico Beach are still rebuilding even a year after the hurricane. I’ve taken advantage of the reduced light pollution and traveled to dozens of dark areas to get a once in a lifetime look at the night sky in these areas before they’re fully rebuilt.
